Heavy Lift Supervisor


Definition:

  • Report to the Site Management.
  • Head of the team for the heavy lift operations.
  • Responsible for all the preparations of heavy lifts
  • Assist with the planning and help with the engineering of all the heavy weight lifts
  • Responsible for the technical execution on site.
  • Responsible for the personnel occupied with the heavy lifts.
  • Participate in the pre-job meetings.
  • Responsible for the checklists in accordance with the manuals.
  • Work together with the safety officer in order to create an optimal and safe technical environment to work in.
  • Supervise heavy lifting activities
  • Rigger for heavy lifts.
  • Participate in meetings about internal projects.
  • Responsible for the control/audit of the equipment of the cranes and the equipment used for the mounting of the cranes and the lifts.

Professional experience:

  • 3 years of experience as Site Supervisor.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as crane supervisor in heavy lifting projects (heavy lifts > 200 tons).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as rigger/mechanic in heavy lifting projects (heavy lifts > 200 tons).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in mounting lattice boom cranes.
  • Experience with rigging and handling heavy weights.
  • Specific professional experience in the domain of Petrochemical, refinery and mining installations.

Education:

  • Degree “Bachelor in Mechanics” or “Bachelor in Construction”.
  • Training “Safety for Operational Supervisors SCC **” or a similar training.

 

Skills:

  • Capable to work under stress.
  • Be able to read and interpret loading charts
  • Leadership qualities
  • Be able to work individually and in a group
  • Be able to draw up and follow the planning of a project
  • Know the different types and characteristics of lifting cranes
  • Know how to perform the rigging and handling of heavy weights
  • Know how to calculate the maximum hoisting capacity
  • Know how to determine the hoisting capacity of the slings and shackles
  • Know the methods to determine the actual weight of the elements to lift
Know the arm signalisation to communicate with the crane driver
