Successful TCVT Symposium 'safe hoisting' and SCT audit

This month we inform you about the following topics:
• Participation of 12hoist4u at the TCVT Symposium
  "Safe Hoisting in the Chain"
• Successful Safety Contractor Certificate audit and expanding the scope

On the 12th of October 2017, the TCVT (Foundation for the Supervision of Certification of Vertical Transport) organized a symposium with the aim to get closer to the goal: "safe hoisting operations".

SCT certification is intended for agencies that supply safety contractor certified companies with temporary personnel. SCT certified companies are assessed on their procedures to contribute to safety, health and environment. The SCT system already exists since 1998 and is in use to show Safety Certified Contractors (SCC) evidence of their commitment to all aspects of HSE.

Foundation for the Supervision of Certification of Vertical Transport Symposium

In the Netherlands, hoisting is considered to be a high risk activity. Fortunately, the sector is aware of the need for safe operations. However, questions concerning the purchase, use, inspection and risk of machine deployment (cranes, building lifts and related equipment) still exist.
On the 12th of October 2017, Foundation for the Supervision of Certification of Vertical Transport (TCVT) organized a symposium in which important subjects were raised. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, the Dutch Safety Board, TüV and 12hoist4u were invited as speaker.

To increase the safety of hoisting and lifting operations, 12hoist4u advised stricter compliance with rules and regulations and increasing the knowledge. To achieve this, companies should establish more explicit procedures and designate a responsible person for the safety during preparation and execution of hoisting operations. A copy of the presentation can be downloaded here.

If you would like more information and/or support when setting up company specific hoisting and lifting procedures, please contact 12hoist4u.
For training about rules and regulations, you are also welcome to contact 12hoist4u. In the meantime, more than 1.000 people have been trained as a Person In Charge. You can download information about the training here.

Successful SCT audit and extended scope

This year again we have been thoroughly assessed with regards to compliance of our safe working procedures. The fact that we have been re-certificated again is a confirmation that our own employees as well as the professionals provided by 12hoist4u are very serious about the issue of safety at work.

As has been demonstrated during the TCVT seminar, safety in hoisting and lifting is of the utmost importance. We consider it important to make a contribution so that we can ensure a safe workplace for our present and future professionals.
As a result of the audit, the scope of our activities has also been extended to "temporary staffing with personnel having specific knowledge of hoisting and lifting".

This scope is more appropriate to the fact that 12hoist4u supplies every vacancy for which specific knowledge of hoisting and lifting is required. For example, we supply the oil & gas industry with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) and Technical Authorities (TA's) and EPC contractors with rigging engineers and supervisors. Also civil contractors desiring a certified TCVT W4-08 banksman underneath their crane are amongst our customers.
